Καινούργιο challenge blog για paper arts

Η έκπληξη που σας έλεγα, είναι γεγονός.

Μαζί με μερικές από τις πιο ταλαντούχες Ελληνίδες scrappers και journalers, ξεκινήσαμε ένα καινούργιο challenge blog, όπου όλοι όσοι αγαπούν τα paper crafts , θα μπορούν να παίξουν μαζί μας!

Επίσης, κάθε μήνα θα ανεβάζουμε tutorials, που θα βοηθήσουν και τους καινούργιους της παρέας μας αλλά και τους πιο έμπειρους!

Ελάτε να παίξουμε!!!! Είτε κάνετε scrapbooking, είτε κάρτες, είτε art journaling, mixed media ή altered items, έχουμε ένα challenge για εσάς!!!

Δεύτερη ανάρτηση σήμερα! Σας ζαλίζω - με καλό σκοπό όμως!

Στις αρχές του μήνα η φίλη μου η Παρασκευή με προκάλεσε με ένα ασυνήθιστο τρόπο. Μου ζήτησε να αφήσω πέρα τα  mixed media, και να ξαναγυρίσω στις παλιές εποχές του clean&simple.

Από καιρό ήθελα να κάνω ένα LO για το τέταρτο μέλος της οικογένειάς μας, που έφυγε από γεράματα το Σεπτέμβριο. Η απουσία της είναι ακόμα ανοιχτή πληγή για όλους μας, αλλά ήταν τόσο πολύ κουρασμένη στο τέλος που δεν πήγαινε άλλο.

Η Wolf ήταν το πρώτο μου παιδί. Πάντα είχα σκύλο, αλλά ποτέ μέσα στο σπίτι. Όταν μείναμε μαζί με το Χάρη και εκείνος έφυγε φαντάρος, πήραμε τη Wolf. Ήταν το τελευταίο σκυλάκι της γέννας, μικρόσωμη και καταιδρωμένη σε σχέση με τα αδέρφια της. Αφού όταν τη διάλεξα, τα λόγια του ιδιοκτήτη ήταν τα εξής "Τώρα τι να σας χρεώσω γι αυτό?"

Όμως ήταν ένα σκυλί που μόνο γλώσσα δεν είχε, γιατί κατά τα άλλα μίλαγε. Πάντα κατάφερνε να επικοινωνήσει αυτό που ήθελε. 

Τα δεκατέσσερα χρόνια της ζωής της, ήταν η μεγάλη μας κόρη. Παντού μαζί μας, γύρισε την Ελλάδα, ξενύχτισε στα μπαράκια, έκανε camping, έφαγε σε ταβέρνα - μέχρι και ανοιχτές συναυλίες παρακολουθούσε. Και πάντα δίπλα μου. Ξαπλωμένη στο γραφείο όταν ήμουνα εκεί, στην τουαλέτα έξω από την πόρτα μέχρι να βγω,   δίπλα στο κρεββάτι - στρώμα - αιώρα, όλο το βράδυ, ακούνητη να με φυλάει....... Ο Χάρης έψαχνε τη Wolf για να δει που είμαι......

Ακόμα και πριν το τέλος, που πια δεν μπορούσε να περπατήσει, όταν έφευγα από το γραφείο για να πάω μέσα, σερνότανε να με ακολουθήσει - και ας μην μπορούσε.

Την Ήριννα τη δέχτηκε σαν ένα επιπλέον μέλος της αγέλης. Το παιδί μου έμαθε να σηκώνεται κρατημένο από τη γούνα της. Και όσο και αν την πονούσε η μικρή, ποτέ δεν γύρισε ούτε να την γρυλίσει!

Η πιο δύσκολη απόφαση της ζωής μου, ήταν η ευθανασία της. Όταν κατάλαβε ότι δεν μπορούσε άλλο, σταμάτησε να τρώει! Ποιος,  η Wolf, που επιθεωρούσε τα πιάτα μας να δει τι θέλει!  Στο τέλος είχε μείνει μόνο κόκαλα  Όταν ήρθε η κτηνίατρος για την ένεση - λες και ήξερε - πήγε μόνη της, παρόλο που δεν την πλησίαζε ποτέ! Τα ζώα είναι τελικά πολύ πιο σοφά από τους ανθρώπους.

Θα την έχουμε σε μια ξεχωριστή θέση στην καρδιά μας για πάντα!

Κι επειδή χρησιμοποίησα το σκετς της skissedilla #185 θα το υποβάλλω και εκεί

Μπήκε ο Οκτώβρης και μαζί του ήρθε η καινούρια μας πρόκληση στο Scrap Greece

Το θέμα είναι φθινοπωρινό

Είναι κάτι για την εποχή... και δεν είναι άλλο από τις Φθινοπωρινές μέρες που δεν θέλουν να έρθουν... Το καλοκαίρι δεν λέει να μας αφήσει ακόμα και η ζέστη καλά κρατεί..! Βασιστείτε στο sketch και δημιουργήστε μια σύνθεση, μια κάρτα, art journaling (ή οτι άλλο εμπνευστείτε) στο οποίο να δεσπόζει κάτι φθινοπωρινό... Θέλετε αυτό να είναι η ίδια η φωτογραφία που τραβήξατε αυτή την εποχή, θέλετε να διακοσμήσετε με φύλλα την σελίδα σας, να βάλετε ομπρέλες που να παραπέμπουν στα πρωτοβρόχια, το σχολείο που ξεκίνησε το παιδάκι σας ή να χρησιμοποιήσετε απλά φθινοπωρινά χρώματα; Αφήστε τη φαντασία σας ελεύθερη και δημιουργήστε

και το σκετς μας είναι

Αφού λοιπόν βροχές και πεσμένα φύλλα δεν έχουμε ακόμα, η δικιά μου συμμετοχή έχει να κάνει με τα σχολεία που ανοίγουν κάθε χρόνο στις 11 Σεπτέμβρη και σηματοδοτούν για εμάς το ξεκίνημα του φθινοπώρου. Η κόρη μου μεγάλωσε, πάει τετάρτη φέτος, οπότε έχει δικαίωμα για ένα LO που να ξεφεύγει από τα παιδικά που της έκανα ως τώρα!

Περιμένουμε να δούμε και τις δικές σας δημιουργίες!

Πότε πέρασε αυτός ο μήνας και έφτασε ο καιρός για την δεύτερη πρόκληση του Get Creative ούτε που κατάλαβα!

Όμως πήγε 15, και αυτή τη φορά έχουμε ένα σχέδιο από τη Μελένια.



Κατά το συνήθειό μου το έστριψα, το τροποποίησα, το αναποδογύρισα - του άλλαξα τα φώτα. Τόσο που ανησύχησα μήπως είμαι εκτός προδιαγραφών. Θυμήθηκα, όμως, ότι σε κάποιο crop η ίδια η Ειρήνη μας είχε πει πως το σχέδιο δεν πρέπει να μας περιορίζει αλλά πρέπει να το φέρουμε στα μέτρα μας. Της το έστειλα λοιπόν και να το








Δεν θα το πιστέψετε, αλλά αυτό το layout έχει δώδεκα layers. Και μια και όταν το έφτιαχνα μόλις είχαν φύγει οι μαθήτριές μου, χρησιμοποίησα και κάποια από τα δωράκια που μου έφεραν. Η μπεζ κορδέλα και το tissue paper είναι από το περιτύλιγμα του βιβλίου της Αμαλίας, ενώ το δερμάτινο κορδόνι είναι από την μηλόπιτα της Μαρίας - που ήταν και νοστιμότατη.

Τα υπόλοιπα είναι από τα "σκουπίδια" της οικογένειας που βρίσκουν το δρόμο για το γραφείο μου. Ένα ταμπελάκι από ρούχο, το φακελάκι από τις χορδές της κιθάρας, ένα μουτζουρωμένο χαρτάκι από κάποιο βιβλίο, ένα κομματάκι δαντέλας... Τα υπόλοιπα είναι puncinella με gesso, thick embossing powder, stencil με inka gold, και λιωμένο κερί. Τα chipboard είναι από τη Σφραγιδομανία.

Hello girls, and welcome to a new challenge by Get Creative. As you may already know, this month I am a guest designer replacing my friend Efi. And believe me - it is a very difficult task to replace such a talented lady!

Καλημέρα κορίτσια! Καλωσορίσατε στην καινούρια πρόκληση του Get Creative. Όπως ίσως θα είδατε, είμαι εδώ στη θέση της φιλενάδας μου της Έφυς. Και είναι ιδιαίτερα δύσκολο να αντικαταστήσω κάποια τόσο ταλαντούχα!

So, our first challenge for this month is a color scheme:

Η πρώτη πρόκληση του μήνα είναι η εξής:

"Pink" , I hear you saying, "you will make a pink layout?" Ok I admit it. Pink is not one of my favorite colors. However, this combo recompensated the use of pink and I managed to fit girly pink and vintage elements in a layout! See for yourself

Όσες με γνωρίζετε, ξέρετε ότι το ροζ δεν είναι το αγαπημένο μου χρώμα. Όμως το συγκεκριμένο combo, μου άρεσε και κατάφερα να συνδυάσω ροζ με λίγο vintage με αυτό το αποτέλεσμα:

And if you wonder where I found my embellishments, I craft them myself. In my early scrapbooking years a large part of my budget and crafting space was allocated to embellishments. I used to spend hours looking through my stash for the right embellishment, but always something didn't quite fit. You know what I am talking about - they are not quite the right size, their color does not exactly match the paper and how much better it would look like if....

Και αν αναρωτιέστε για τα embellishments που χρησιμοποίησα, τα έφτιαξα μόνη μου. Στις αρχές τα πιο πολλά λεφτά που ξόδευα ήταν για διακοσμητικά. Ενώ έχω μαζέψει τόνους απ' αυτά, πολύ δύσκολα έβρισκα κάτι να μου ταιριάζει ακριβώς. Κάτι δεν μου πήγαινε κάθε φορά- λίγο το χρώμα, λίγο το μέγεθος, κι αν ήταν έτσι, κι αν ήταν αλλιώς....

So the 3-D circles are made by enfolded common copy paper printed with a text script. The white background details are gesso over a stencil. The main flower and the dragonfly are recycled clear plastic with a handmade paper bead, and the background papers are just painted corrugated board and a recycled prima package.

Λοιπόν, οι 3-D κύκλοι είναι τυπωμένο και τυλιγμένο χαρτί εκτυπωτή, τα άσπρα ανάγλυφα στοιχεία γκέσο με stencil, το λουλούδι και η λιβελούλα ανακυκλωμένη πλαστική συσκευασία, και τα background papers βαμμένο οντουλέ από χαρτοκιβώτιο και μια συσκευασία της prima.

And a layout for a change!

I was in inspired by Swirlydoos color combo AND sketch. For me that means many Wows! They also had a tutorial in Lynne's blog which is what I used to make the swirls. I only substituted gesso with smooth modelling paste for extra dimention. The people there are so talented that I enjoyed visiting each designer's blog, starting with my favorite Heidi Kelley!

Enough of chatting - here is what I made:

I will play with Swirlydoos as I was inspired by them, in SSS&S because first they are my favorite challenge site and second I have many "red letters" in my project , and in Scrap for Help as the recycled part in work are obvious (two recycled market tags behind the photo). I will play, also, with Effie's challenge in Get Creative

Two cards and a LO for equal (on second thoughts not equal!!!!) challenges.

The first is for Passion for Promarkers. The stamp is from Stampendous (last year's but I used it this year as it was an after-christmas bargain). The snowman is colored with Promarkers - my favorite markers- . I will also play at Christmas stamping

The following is a scraplift (hmm ) of one of Vicky's cards which I liked very much - I hope her child is getting better!-. She is a constant inspiration and very creative. I will also play with 2 sisters, Rogue designs, Totally Gorjuss

And finally the LO - made for a friend- I will submit it in the Scrap for Help challenge. In this LO, I challenged myself to use neglected scraps and pieces from my stash. I never make boys LOs, so I almost lacked corresponing elements. I am very happy ,however, because I recycled several pieces. The backing paper is from a 7Gypsies packaging, the flower tops are taken from an old doll of my DD, and the doily was found in a cookies' box.

We are already in the middle of the second week of November, and the crop Saturday is over. I will not post any pictures of 30 scrapbookers working like crazies, but I want to tell you that it was fab!

Thanks Zeffy and Eirini for all the hard work you did before and during the crop- it showed! I hope that you will make it again soon!

Eirini's lesson was - what else? A layout page based on Nadia's sketch for the November challenge of OUAS. Although I am not good following sketches (I feel caged and the good ideas fly away from me), I will submit it. Girls, if you feel that the implementation of the sketch is far too stretched , it is OK. I will also submit to Stampman as they always have interesting challenges.

I almost forgot to tell you that I made the black flower myself!!!!!, using a technique that Zeffi, showed us in her lesson.

The journaling says: " I started scrapbooking,
in order to remember you always as you were"

It is my first LO since I do not know when, but I could not resist using art journaling techniques even here.

This year my daughter asked to go to a children's camp. We had our reservations (see she is not only an only child, she is THE only child of our extended family!) Every grandparent, aunt or uncle was sure that she will come back home within a week.

But she is stronger than everybody thinks, so she stayed the full three weeks, had a fabulous time and has plans for the next year already.

The photos are from the first week's parent visit.

I have months to play in a challenge, so my layout is inspired from both Get Creative challenges (Elina's 8 embellishments & Chrysa's sketch) and Nadia's sketch ( My journaling is from the song "Καλοκαιρι" by D.Savopoulos).

I will also play at the crafty pad, creative inspirations, craft us crazy

I am a student at Miss Art's and last month Heidi Kelley (my fav teacher) presented us with a layout that was very -very interesting. I scraplifted it and here is the result:

I love the empty space of the page, and all these details packed in a so small space. I love the idea of the torn paper. I sprayed and misted it, used my distress inks to it and of course shimmerz paints. The stamp is an old one from Hero Arts, the flowers from K company and my stash, the flourishes from Sfragidomania. All the rest from my stash sprayed in coordinate colors. (I have more than 40 mists and sometimes feel they are not enough!!!!)

Last week my daughter had her annual ballet performance. The show was extravagant,a great success. The girls were very happy - they were shining-, the choreographies spirited and the music superb! All in all a very good show.

I HAD to make a layout of the performance, so here it is :

I was inspired by Nadia's sketch and I used the following:

- Glimmer mists and glimmer glam for the background

- Grunge letters painted with both glimmers and acrylic paint

- Prima flowers

- Hero Arts butterfly stamp painted with mists

- Paper from Creative Imaginations

The original idea of the three painted tags came from dear Dina Wakley. The sketch is from the new challenge blog Once upon a sketch.

On a whim I bought Donna's Salazar Distrezz-it-all tool. I saw a layout she had made with her corrugated paper and how easily she distressed it and I was speechless. So, without thinking twice I visited zutter.com and bought it.

As soon as I layed my hands on the tool, I tested it in common packaging carton and worked miracles.

So, here is the layout that came out.

Ingredients: - Stamps:Prima and Artemio, Paper:BG, Distressing: Claudine Helmuth's acrylics, glimmer mists, gesso and distress inks, Diecuts: Silhouette - the rest from stash.

PS. After I made it, I found out that she had made a similar one sometime ago. It seems that along with her tool she bestowed me with some of her talent and inspiration.

The idea came from Elina Koutsouradi. The challenge was to use only one paper, either plain or designer.

It is a real challenge, as we tend to rely heavily on the different products the scrapbooking companies offer in abundance.

So, I started with a plain white canson paper and used the baby-wipe technique with Tim Holtz's distress inks. I distressed the edges with Cat's eye chalk and used some copper embossing powder for the border. Finally I sprayed with glimmer mists.

Usually, I built a page around a photo. This time I did the opposite. This is a picture of sunset as seen by our balcony in Crete island.

I needed some summer embellishments, but I had nothing good enough. So I used a combo of free digis and I painted with Promarkers.

Behind the photo is a tag - sorry I forgot to take a picture- with my journaling.

I am compiling a "year book". It contains 30x30 layouts that document our year all over. From day to day events, to concerts and theaters and family gatherings and celebrations. Everything that made the 2010 worth to remember.

One of these events - a sad one- was the day that the hill over my family house in Vouliagmeni was burning. My sister and my parents live there now as I have moved more than 15 years, but it is still my home and the place I grew up. I know every little rock and tree on that hill, I have played in every inch of it, I was there in the last fire 17 years ago, I have witnessed the slow growth of the pines as the place was left on its own to heal its scars.

This time our help was not needed as the fire brigades and the helicopters were more than adequate, but the hill over our house has been burnt one more time, the villas "eat" little by little the tree space and the vegetation cannot "steal" some time to rebirth from the ashes.

This is the lo I made - more pictures and text than embellishments, but as it is the one and only lo that has no pictures of persons, I decided to upload it.

I used a Halloween paper combined with a fire overlay that I printed in a transparency, and a black Core'dinations with some Anita's acrylic paint on it, Tim Holtz's tissue paper , chipboard letters from The Girl's Paperie, a stamp of Hero Arts for the distressing as well as Cat's eye charcoal chalk ink - and that's it. The rest is pictures and feelings...

Last week I received some new wooden stamps. Since my old box was full, I made a new one yesterday. I kept it simple, as I hate 3d embellishments and overhanging objects when I have to stack boxes in my library.

It all started with this picture:

It is a small cafe in Areopolis near Gythio. We were there, a week after Easter, for a two-days excursion. On the road to Diros caves, we stopped for a coffee.

Baked under the strong golden sun of Mani, the town was like a medieval dream! I made a lot of pictures but this one is a full recipe : new and old, golden and white, the dried summer plants with their still green edges... Magic!

As I could not capture the colors on paper, I printed the picture in both paper and acetat. I made several attempts - the plain acetat was almost the real image, but I left it for a week and it didn't dry. The inkjet printer acetat dried at once, but the colors lost their brilliance. I wish I had one of these professional printers, but, alas, I have a cheap HP (I don't compain-it does its job decently most of the time).

The result is the following:

I am compiling a scrapbook album for all the special moments throughout the year. However, as we did almost nothing for the Easter celebration this year, I have left the the layout for "sometime later".

So, yesterday, I finally decided to deal with it. I thought to keep it simple - no designer papers, no new fancy stuff, just things from my stash and a breeze of fresh spring air for a day of cosy family relaxation. The important thing of the day, anyway, is the unique feeling you have when four generations of the family gather together to enjoy each other's company.

I am a constant follower of Vicky Papaioannou blog as I really like the stuff she creates. So, I got inspired by the picture of Santorini she posted- it could be any Greek Island but I like to dream of Santorini. Altough I have never participated in any challenge, in my first attempt I combined two challenges (Cropstop and Clips-n-Cuts) and here I am participating in both.
