Blog Candy

Hello blog-friends. Since last Saturday(24/9) was my name-day and next Sunday (2/10) will be my birthday, I feel that it is time for a blog candy. I have no picture of the actual gift - it will be a surprise!

Good luck to all!

This work is not a new one. It was made for a wedding and a baptism that happened together in Crete at the end of August.

I was a bit troubled, because the event was double (wedding and baptism) with more than 600 guests but the bride did not want double books. After some brainstorming with some scrap-friends, I decided to make a 30x30 book and decorate every other page for the wedding and the mid- pages for the baptism. The title gave me a headache too, as I wanted to have all the names in the cover (of the couple and their boy) somehow related, so I made a visual equation without the symbols (+,=) as my DH said it looked too mathematical.

The choice of colors was the bride's (it seems that every wedding this summer is based on light purple).

Needless to say that the baptism pages soon bacame my favorites, as I could play with funny stamps and my Inktense pencils!

And this is the small canvas that made for the presentation table:

That's all for now- as I am making a new baptism book and some other stuff - but all in due time.

Sorry for the non craft- related post, but I am so angry with the Greek situation these days and with our "friends" the Germans, that after two military world wars, they have now undertook a financial war. These people have rules and rights - all the others have rules and obligations.
Please sign the petition that follows- it is about the German war reparations that our "friends" have never payed. And it is only money because noone can bring back the 13% of the Greek population that died from famine.
My country is not among the "strong" ones, we do not rule the world, but sometimes the rulers have to pay!

Read the justification here and sign the petiton here. Thank you.

My old journal is almost full, so I had to make a new one. I used canvas for the binding which I painted with sprays, glams and stains, 7 gypsies fabric tape, and Tim Holtz's kraft resist paper (it is awesome with the distress stains!)

And a smaller one, from the remnants of an old leather skirt.

The edge distress has been made with distrez-it-all , but the page distress has been made with the following technique:

Plunge the paper in 1 litre of water in which you have added 2 tablespoons of esspresso color wash. Keep it well under the surface for 20 minutes. Remember to use a good quality watercolor paper to keep the paper intact. Then put the paper into your drier for 1/2 an hour. Alternatively if you live where you do not need driers (like me) use your oven (with baking surface) in 120 degrees in air function. Don't worry - it will not burst into flames or anything - it will just come out distressed like this:

Super easy, don't you think? I learned this technique from Marion, and really helps when distressing large volumes of paper.

Have fun!

Hello blogers.

One of our best friends got married- at last- with all ceremony, so I had to make their wish book. The bride's choice was ivory and purple and I complemented it with green with this result:

It was the first time I used fabric for the cover, but it was rather easier than I expected. All the inside pages- odd and even- were decorated (after Katerina's advice), stamped and heat embossed.

The wedding took place in a cute little church and the feast after was superb! The decorations matched exactly with the color of the book, which was placed in a large table by the pool.

Thanks guys for the honor, and I wish you a long happy life.
